Follow directions on a map without getting lost.
Before the audio
- Find the starting point ("You are here", the entrance).
- Look at the compass or orientation: north/south, left/right.
- Notice what's already labelled — these help you follow along.
Key direction language
| Phrase | Meaning |
|---|---|
| opposite / across from | on the other side |
| next to / beside / adjacent to | touching, side by side |
| in the corner | where two walls meet |
| at the far end | the end away from you |
| just past / beyond | a little after |
| turn left/right | from the speaker's direction, not yours! |
Tip
Move your pencil on the map as the speaker walks. If you lose your place, look for the next labelled building and join in again.
